Rosa ‘COCgrand’ — Amazing Grace™
🌹 Introduced: 1992
🏴 Origin: Scotland
🌹 Rose Type: Shrub Rose
💕 Huge, 80+ petal pink-and-cream blooms with an extraordinary perfume worthy of its name.
Amazing Grace™ is a rose that makes an entrance.
Its enormous flowers can reach an astonishing 7 inches across, packed with more than 80 petals arranged in a lush, old-fashioned form with beautifully quartered centers. The coloring is equally romantic—a soft blend of delicate pink and creamy tones that gives the flowers an almost porcelain appearance.
And then there's the fragrance.
Heirloom Roses describes the perfume of Amazing Grace™ as magnificent and wonderfully rich, reminiscent of an expensive Parisian perfume.
This isn't a rose where you have to bury your nose in the flower and wonder if you can smell something. Amazing Grace™ was made for gardeners who believe fragrance should be every bit as memorable as the flower itself.
Add continual bloom, beautiful foliage, sturdy cutting stems, and a manageable shrub habit, and it's easy to understand why this rose has become such a beloved Heirloom variety.

This is where Amazing Grace™ earns the “Amazing.”
A 7-inch rose is enormous.
Add more than 80 petals, and the flowers develop the lush, deeply layered appearance we associate with romantic old garden roses.
Rather than the traditional pointed form of a Hybrid Tea, Amazing Grace™ opens into a very full, quartered bloom, with petals arranged into sections around the center.
The soft blend of pink and cream makes all that texture even more beautiful.
This is a rose you don't simply notice.
You stop and stare.
With a name like Amazing Grace™, we may be a little biased—but this rose earns every bit of it.
There are roses with big flowers.
There are roses with lots of petals.
And there are roses with incredible fragrance.
Amazing Grace™ somehow manages to give you all three.
We love the sheer extravagance of those 7-inch, 80+ petal flowers, but it's the perfume that takes this rose to another level. Rich, luxurious, and wonderfully noticeable, it's exactly the kind of fragrance that reminds you why generations of gardeners have fallen in love with roses.
The continual flowering is the icing on the cake.
For a Grace Rose Farm garden, how could we possibly resist a rose called Amazing Grace™?
Planting Site: Choose a location receiving at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day with fertile, well-drained soil.
Spacing: Allow approximately 3 feet between plants to accommodate its mature size and maintain good air circulation.
Watering: Water deeply at the base of the plant. Newly planted roses should receive consistent moisture while their root systems establish.
Container Growing: Amazing Grace™ can be grown successfully in a large container. Choose a generously sized pot with excellent drainage and enough soil volume to support a mature 4–5 foot shrub.
Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring to remove dead or damaged growth and encourage strong new flowering stems.
Cutting: Please cut this one! Those enormous, heavily petaled flowers and rich perfume make Amazing Grace™ an exceptional rose for bringing indoors.
Fragrance Garden: Plant Amazing Grace™ near a walkway, patio, garden bench, or entrance where you'll naturally pass close enough to enjoy its extraordinary perfume.
Cold Climate Care: In the colder end of its Zone 5–10 range, protect the crown with an insulating layer of mulch after the ground begins to freeze.
Before planting
Keep your rose in its pot in a sunny spot and water it well while you prepare the bed. Choose a place with at least six hours of sun and soil that drains well. Water the pot thoroughly an hour before planting.
Planting your potted rose
Dig a hole twice as wide as the pot and about as deep. Ease the rose out, loosen any circling roots and set it so the top of the root ball sits level with the ground. Backfill with garden soil mixed with compost, firm gently and water deeply.
First season watering and care
Water deeply two to three times a week through the first season, more often in hot weather, letting the top inch of soil dry between waterings. Mulch keeps the roots cool. Start feeding once new growth appears, and remove spent blooms to keep the flowers coming.
