Coffret — Japanese Florist Shrub Rose
🧬 Breeder: Makiko Kawamoto (Japan)
📅 Introduced: 2019
🌹 An extraordinary Japanese florist rose featuring mesmerizing blue-purple blooms wrapped in silvery green outer petals for a look unlike any other rose in the garden.
Coffret is one of the most distinctive roses to emerge from modern Japanese breeding. Its name, the French word for "jewelry box" or "keepsake box," perfectly reflects the precious beauty hidden within each bloom. The tightly packed flowers open as elegant cups, revealing a captivating contrast between blue-purple inner petals and unusual green to gray-green outer guard petals. The effect is both sophisticated and unexpected, giving every blossom the appearance of a handcrafted work of art.
As the blooms mature, their unique color combination continues to evolve, creating remarkable depth and texture that has made Coffret a favorite among floral designers and rose collectors alike. While the fragrance is light and delicate, its extraordinary beauty more than steals the show. Blooming repeatedly throughout the growing season on a vigorous upright shrub, Coffret brings florist-quality elegance to garden beds, cutting gardens, and decorative containers, where every flower becomes a conversation piece.

It's one of those rare roses that draws people in for a closer look, revealing more beauty with every stage of opening. Before planting
Keep your rose in its pot in a sunny spot and water it well while you prepare the bed. Choose a place with at least six hours of sun and soil that drains well. Water the pot thoroughly an hour before planting.
Planting your potted rose
Dig a hole twice as wide as the pot and about as deep. Ease the rose out, loosen any circling roots and set it so the top of the root ball sits level with the ground. Backfill with garden soil mixed with compost, firm gently and water deeply.
First season watering and care
Water deeply two to three times a week through the first season, more often in hot weather, letting the top inch of soil dry between waterings. Mulch keeps the roots cool. Start feeding once new growth appears, and remove spent blooms to keep the flowers coming.
