About David Austin® Ambridge® Potted Rose Bush

Rosa ‘Auswonder’ — David Austin® Ambridge®
🧬 Breeder: David C. H. Austin
🌹 A charming English Shrub rose with soft apricot-pink blooms and a rich myrrh fragrance.

David Austin® Ambridge® is a beautifully refined English Shrub rose, cherished for its medium-sized, loosely formed rosettes in delicate apricot-pink tones. Each bloom opens with old-world charm and releases a distinctive myrrh fragrance, a hallmark of classic English roses. With its tidy growth habit and repeat flowering nature, Ambridge® brings grace, fragrance, and timeless beauty to the garden season after season.

💐 Plant & Flower Traits

🌹 Rose Type: English Shrub Rose
🎨 Color: Soft apricot-pink, gently fading to pale pink
🌸 Bloom Form: Medium, very double blooms forming softly cupped rosettes
🌼 Fragrance: Strong myrrh fragrance
🔁 Flowering Habit: Repeat flowering from late spring through autumn

🏡 Growth & Garden Habits

🌱 Growth Habit: Bushy, upright, and well-branched
↕️ Height: Approximately 3–4 ft
↔️ Width: Approximately 2–3 ft
☀️ Light Requirements: Full sun for best bloom and fragrance
🛡️ Care Notes: Responds well to spring pruning and regular watering

💛 Why Grace Rose Farm Loves It

Ambridge® captures the essence of a true English garden rose — softly colored blooms, romantic form, and a perfume that invites you to linger. Its compact size makes it especially versatile, ideal for mixed borders, cottage gardens, and fragrant plantings near walkways or patios. Reliable repeat bloom ensures the garden remains welcoming and full of charm all season long.

🌿 Growing & Care Recommendations

Planting Site: Full sun with well-drained soil
Spacing: Allow room for a medium shrub
Watering: Regular watering while establishing; maintain even moisture during bloom cycles
Pruning: Prune lightly in spring to shape and encourage strong flowering
Maintenance: Moderate — rewards care with abundant, fragrant blooms

Before planting

Keep your rose in its pot in a sunny spot and water it well while you prepare the bed. Choose a place with at least six hours of sun and soil that drains well. Water the pot thoroughly an hour before planting.

Planting your potted rose

Dig a hole twice as wide as the pot and about as deep. Ease the rose out, loosen any circling roots and set it so the top of the root ball sits level with the ground. Backfill with garden soil mixed with compost, firm gently and water deeply.

First season watering and care

Water deeply two to three times a week through the first season, more often in hot weather, letting the top inch of soil dry between waterings. Mulch keeps the roots cool. Start feeding once new growth appears, and remove spent blooms to keep the flowers coming.

I recently bought their 1 gallon and I was so happy to receive a well sized rose with seven stems! They did a really good job growing these as the stems were pretty thick.
