I recently bought their 1 gallon and I was so happy to receive a well sized rose with seven stems! They did a really good job growing these as the stems were pretty thick.David Austin® The Cottage Rose®

Rosa ‘AUSjo’ — David Austin® Jude the Obscure®
🧬 Breeder: David C. H. Austin
🌹 An extraordinary English Shrub rose with luminous apricot blooms and one of the most powerful and distinctive fragrances of any rose.
Jude the Obscure® is a rose that captivates first with its fragrance and then with its beauty. The blooms are large and deeply cupped, opening from soft apricot buds into glowing, buttery tones that fade to pale cream at the edges. The color seems to shift with the light, giving the plant a warm, luminous presence in the garden. Its fragrance is legendary—intensely rich and complex, blending notes of fruit, guava, and sweet white wine with the depth of classic old-rose perfume.
🌹 Rose Type: English Shrub Rose

🌸 Bloom Form: Large, deeply cupped blooms with a relaxed, informal shape
🌼 Petal Count: Approximately 70+ petals
🌼 Fragrance: Exceptionally strong, fruity fragrance with guava and white wine notes

🛡️ Garden Use: Borders, mixed beds, cutting gardens, and near patios or walkways for fragrance
Jude the Obscure® is one of those rare roses that people remember long after they’ve left the garden. The fragrance is unlike anything else—rich, fruity, and completely intoxicating. We love planting it close to seating areas or pathways where its scent can truly be experienced. Its softly glowing color palette also blends effortlessly into romantic garden schemes, adding warmth and elegance without overpowering neighboring plants.
Planting Site: Full sun with fertile, well-drained soil
Spacing: Allow space for its arching, natural growth habit
Watering: Regular watering, especially during establishment and bloom cycles
Pruning: Light shaping in early spring; deadhead to encourage repeat blooms
Maintenance: Moderate — thrives with attentive care and rewards with extraordinary fragrance
Before planting
Keep your rose in its pot in a sunny spot and water it well while you prepare the bed. Choose a place with at least six hours of sun and soil that drains well. Water the pot thoroughly an hour before planting.
Planting your potted rose
Dig a hole twice as wide as the pot and about as deep. Ease the rose out, loosen any circling roots and set it so the top of the root ball sits level with the ground. Backfill with garden soil mixed with compost, firm gently and water deeply.
First season watering and care
Water deeply two to three times a week through the first season, more often in hot weather, letting the top inch of soil dry between waterings. Mulch keeps the roots cool. Start feeding once new growth appears, and remove spent blooms to keep the flowers coming.
