About David Austin® Imogen® Potted Rose Bush

Rosa ‘AUStritch’  Imogen®

Imogen is a romantic English Shrub Rose from the David Austin collection, adored for its elegant ruffled blooms and gentle apple-like fragrance. Soft lemon-yellow petals open in densely packed, double rosettes with a charming button eye, gradually fading to a near-cream tone as they age. This rose carries a light fruity scent and blooms generously from late spring through fall, making it a graceful standout in mixed borders or cottage-style gardens.

Upright and bushy with glossy foliage, Imogen offers a refined presence and reliable performance. It’s ideal for formal beds, informal hedging, or cutting gardens—and thrives in full sun across a wide range of U.S. climates.

Before planting

Keep your rose in its pot in a sunny spot and water it well while you prepare the bed. Choose a place with at least six hours of sun and soil that drains well. Water the pot thoroughly an hour before planting.

Planting your potted rose

Dig a hole twice as wide as the pot and about as deep. Ease the rose out, loosen any circling roots and set it so the top of the root ball sits level with the ground. Backfill with garden soil mixed with compost, firm gently and water deeply.

First season watering and care

Water deeply two to three times a week through the first season, more often in hot weather, letting the top inch of soil dry between waterings. Mulch keeps the roots cool. Start feeding once new growth appears, and remove spent blooms to keep the flowers coming.

I recently bought their 1 gallon and I was so happy to receive a well sized rose with seven stems! They did a really good job growing these as the stems were pretty thick.
