About Doniazade Potted Rose Bush

Doniazade — Japanese Garden Shrub Rose
🧬 Breeder: Keihan Hirakata Nursery / Takunori Kimura (Japan)
📅 Introduced: 2023
🌹 An enchanting Japanese shrub rose with luminous pink blooms, an intoxicating fragrance, and remarkable garden performance.

Doniazade is a captivating new Japanese garden rose that combines romance, fragrance, and resilience into one unforgettable shrub. Sharing many of the beloved qualities of the celebrated Sheherazad rose, Doniazade produces large, elegant pink blooms with a refined, old-world character. Each flower opens gracefully to reveal beautifully arranged petals and a rich, romantic presence that makes the shrub a standout from the first flush of spring until the final blooms of autumn. With very few thorns, this variety is especially enjoyable to grow, prune, and cut for bouquets.

Its exceptional fragrance is one of Doniazade's defining features. The blooms release a strong perfume that blends classic tea rose notes with spicy Damask undertones, creating a scent that lingers beautifully throughout the garden. Combined with its reliable repeat flowering and impressive heat tolerance, Doniazade offers beauty that endures through the warmth of summer as well as the cooler days of spring and fall. Whether featured in a mixed border, a cutting garden, or as a specimen planting, this elegant Japanese rose brings timeless charm and sophisticated fragrance to every landscape.

🌿 Growing & Care Recommendations

Planting Site: Plant in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter.

Spacing: Allow approximately 4 feet for mature growth and good air circulation.

Watering: Water deeply during establishment and maintain even soil moisture during active growth.

Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring to encourage vigorous new growth and abundant repeat blooms.

Maintenance: Low to moderate — a vigorous Japanese shrub rose that rewards gardeners with exceptional fragrance, continuous flowering, and outstanding garden performance throughout the season.

Before planting

Keep your rose in its pot in a sunny spot and water it well while you prepare the bed. Choose a place with at least six hours of sun and soil that drains well. Water the pot thoroughly an hour before planting.

Planting your potted rose

Dig a hole twice as wide as the pot and about as deep. Ease the rose out, loosen any circling roots and set it so the top of the root ball sits level with the ground. Backfill with garden soil mixed with compost, firm gently and water deeply.

First season watering and care

Water deeply two to three times a week through the first season, more often in hot weather, letting the top inch of soil dry between waterings. Mulch keeps the roots cool. Start feeding once new growth appears, and remove spent blooms to keep the flowers coming.

I recently bought their 1 gallon and I was so happy to receive a well sized rose with seven stems! They did a really good job growing these as the stems were pretty thick.
